At the CES 2022 exhibition, General Motors announced the latest technologies and products. Among them, General Motors' latest exploration of autonomous driving technology was also displayed to the public.
GM’s rich technical reserves include Cruise fully autonomous driving, as well as Ultra Cruise and Super Cruise assisted driving. In addition, General Motors is cooperating with other companies around the world to improve autonomous driving capabilities and meet the diverse needs of consumers.
At the same time, the InnerSpace self-driving concept car, a new member of the Cadillac Halo concept series, was unveiled, with the Ultra Cruise advanced assisted driving system that can achieve point-to-point hands-off driving, and GM Ultifi, a new software platform for automobiles.
Super Cruise is still expected to be available on 22 models of the General Motors brand through 2023, while Ultra Cruise will enter production in 2023 and the Ultium-based Cadillac Celestiq ultra Luxury sedans will be among the first models equipped with the technology.
GM and Cruise are pursuing a comprehensive path toward autonomous driving, with the goal of delivering GM's first personal autonomous vehicle as soon as 2025.
GM will be the first company to use Qualcomm's Snapdragon Ride platform to enable advanced driver assistance technology, which is defined by software developed in-house by GM. The new computing architecture co-developed by General Motors and Qualcomm for Ultra Cruise will have the processing power of hundreds of personal computers but the size of two laptops stacked on top of each other.
In the field of autonomous driving, General Motors adheres to a multi-point development path. Its rich technical reserves cover Cruise fully autonomous driving technology and Super Cruise and Ultra Cruise in Assisted driving system inside. In addition, the company invested US$300 million in Chinese local autonomous driving start-up Momenta last year to accelerate the development and deployment of next-generation autonomous driving technology in China.
